Monte do Sapeiro is our home, that we whish to share with you. This home has belonged to the same family for over 4 generations, but left abandoned for a number of years.

Our passion for the Costa Vicentina, its diverse nature and dramatic seascape, is inspiration enough to attract you to the southwest. It offers peace and tranquility in a charming rural setting, where you will be received as one the family in our now fully restored and modernised portuguese home. 

Monte do Sapeiro is a place full of heady scents, the smell of rockrose, rosemary and lavander. It is also a place of sounds, the sound of the sea, the croaking of frogs, the chorus of birds, the song of crickets and cicadas. This contrasts with the total silence of the night.

Here, on the Costa Vicentina, where the earth meets the sea and under a starry sky, you are rewarded with a wonderful view over the valley. Monte do Sapeiro is the ideal place to rest.

Monte do Sapeiro is just 5 minutes from the beaches of Carrapateira, Amado and Bordeira, some of the most beautiful beaches of the Costa Vicentina and on one of trails of the Rota Vicentina.

In a rural area of Souwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina Natural Park, our property is located on a hillside, with a privileged view over the valley of Vilarinha. It's a secluded space, giving exclusivity and privacy.

The rooms are welcoming, with a simple but tasteful décor, in keeping with the rural environment, but with all the comfort and elegance required. If you like to read, this is the perfect place to do it, because we do not have television.

The rooms, fronted by windows glazed throughout their width, let in a fantastic sunrise day after day. If you prefer to watch a shooting star show at night, believe us, there is no better starry sky than this!

The exterior has several secluded seating areas overlooking the valley, which allow you to fully enjoy the valley, wich allows you to fully enjoy the landscape and tranquility.

Sea

Activities abound here but you need time to try them all. A few minutes from Monte do Sapeiro, you have more then three dozen beaches, some easily accessible while others are off the beaten track and invite you to discover them. They all have their individual beauty. The region caters for a variety of experiences, from surf to kite surfing, from SUP to windsurf, from diving to fishing, or even a boat trip down the coast to dolphin watch.

Nature

Enjoy this idyllic setting for walking in Rota Vicentina. Take some time to admire the beauty of the region's flora and fauna and experience its invigorating scents. A bike ride, a donkey ride or horse ride, participation in seasonal agricultural activities are other possible activities. If you enjoy bird watching be sure to bring binoculars to see the wide variety of birdlife. You will never be bored here, being free from the pressures of everyday life.

Gastronomy

If you wish to totally relax, we can prepare meal for you as long as it is reserved 24h in advance. There is no menu, our suggestions are made according to what is most fresh, commercially available, based on a concept of slow food. You can however, choose between light meals, regional food, fish or fresh seafood, purchased directly from fishermen or fished by the owner. In alternatively, you can prepare your own meals in the fully equipped kitchen which is available to guests, or else try some of the local restaurants.

Be sure to try the bream or grilled sea bass, barnacles, cataplana, stuffed squid, rice with fish and chicken giblets, always accompanied by a good Algarve wine. Don't forget, the desserts of figs, almond and carob, and the artisan produced medronho, an schnapps typical of the region.

Periods with holidays are considered high season.

Payments and Cancellations

Minimum stay of four nights from July until September and two nights during the rest of the year.

Check-in from 4pm until 9pm; check-out until 11am.

Advance payment of 30% of the total amount at the time of reservation is required, that must be made up to 48 hours after confirmation of availability; if the payment is not confirmed within this period, the reservation expires; remaining payment is made at check-in (If the booking is not used in its entirety there is no right to a refund).
